LaborLab reported several significant updates this week concerning anti-union “persuaders,” whose activities are detailed below. These consultants and lawyers are employed to undermine union organizing. Their methods involve spreading inaccurate information about unions and their effects on employee benefits. They also utilize coercive tactics like mandatory captive audience meetings to deliver anti-union messages. Additionally, persuaders may conduct surveillance, track union activities, and target employees who support unions. This can include following workers, holding individual meetings, and gathering personal employee data that could be used against organizing efforts.
(1) Labcorp in Temecula and Hemet, CA hired East Coast Labor Relations for $3,500/day. As is all too often the case, East Coast Labor Relations delayed disclosing their work and compensation until after the union election, which workers lost by a narrow margin of 9 to 12. Non-compliance with transparency laws is rampant within the union-busting industry.
(2) Premier Health Partner in Ohio hired C Hunt Management Consulting for $450/hour. The union election was withdrawn.
(3) Lastly, Amazon continues to ramp up its hiring of union-busters. Most recently Amazon’s DCX8 facility hired Keith Williams via RoadWarrior Productions for $2,100/day. Last week we reported that Amazon is pouring money into anti-union persuasion firm RoadWarrior Productions. Amazon Chicago Node (IL) hired RoadWarrior Productions for $3,800/day and a total of $180,700. Amazon DCB4 (MA) also hired RoadWarrior Productions. Amazon DLV2 (NV) hired RoadWarrior Productions for $3,800/day and a total of $161,040. And Amazon DYY9 (NY) hired RoadWarrior Productions for $3,800/day and a total of $88,600.
LaborLab’s Union-Buster Tracker has been updated to reflect these developments.
