Persuader Watch: Late Filings & Anti-Union Efforts Fail to Stop Worker Victories

A number of important developments regarding anti-union “persuaders” were recently documented by LaborLab, which can be found below. Anti-union persuaders are consultants and lawyers hired to thwart union organizing efforts.

(1) Amazon.com Services hired Pantera Consulting, however the anti-union persuaders failed to disclose which location they have been hired to attack. Amazon LAS2 (NV) also hired MCM Labor Advisors.

(2) Marlene’s Natural Foods & Deli (WA) hired Davis, Grimm, Payne & Marra for $400/hour. Workers successfully defeated the union-busting campaign and won their election 40-0. Similarly to RoadWarrior Productions in North Carolina, Davis, Grimm, Payne & Marra filed their legally required disclosures after the election took place, denying workers critically important information.

(3) Western Montana Mental Health Center (MT) hired anti-union persuaders from LRI Consulting Services for $425/hour. The case is currently open, but it appears workers defeated the union-busting efforts.

Last week, LaborLab’s Union-Buster Tracker was also updated.

Over the weekend, The Labor Valley Report (TLVR) did a segment highlighting these recent examples of bosses hiring “labor relations consultants” to “persuade” workers against collectively bargaining for stronger workplaces and communities.
