Persuader Watch: Amazon Keeps Spending on RoadWarrior Productions

A number of important developments regarding anti-union “persuaders” were documented by LaborLab last week, which can be found below. Anti-union persuaders are consultants and lawyers hired to thwart union organizing efforts. Persuader tactics include disseminating false and misleading information about unions and their potential impact on worker benefits. They also employ intimidation tactics such as mandatory captive audience meetings where anti-union messages are delivered. Furthermore, persuaders may engage in surveillance, monitoring union activity and targeting pro-union employees, while also following workers, conducting one-on-one meetings, and collecting personal employee information that can be leveraged against organizing workers.

Amazon keeps pouring money into the coffers of anti-union persuasion firm RoadWarrior Productions, which recently helped the corporation defeat a organizing drive in North Carolina. Amazon Chicago Node (IL) hired RoadWarrior Productions for $3,800/day and a total of $180,700. Amazon DCB4 (MA) also hired RoadWarrior Productions. Amazon DLV2 (NV) hired RoadWarrior Productions for $3,800/day and a total of $161,040. Finally, Amazon DYY9 (NY) hired RoadWarrior Productions for $3,800/day and a total of $88,600.

Via 313 (TX) hired anti-union persuaders from Labor Management Associates for $325/hour. The election was won despite the union-busting efforts. 59 workers will now be moving towards a contract with Restaurant Workers United.

Heritage Environmental Services (IN) has hired Chuck Ahern for $350/hour

Copart (TN) hired LRI Consulting Services for $425/hour. Unfortunately, the election petition has been withdrawn.

Ventura Coastal (CA) hired Quest Consulting and the election lost.

Black Cap Coffee (VT) hired The Vindex Group, but workers won their election. 14 workers will be moving towards a contract with Workers United Rochester Regional Join Board.

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (VT) hired A to Z Labor Relations. Election A was won and election B challenges are determinative.

Last week, LaborLab’s Union-Buster Tracker was also updated.
