East Coast Labor Relations Engages in Aggressive Union-Busting Campaign at Federally Qualified Health Center

Innercare, a federally qualified healthcare center, has hired East Coast Labor Relations to conduct captive audience meetings and intimidate actively-unionizing workers. Seven consultants have been hired since June, and are being paid upwards of $3,500 per day, according to the contract that was filed with the Office of Labor Management-Standards. Federal law prohibits the use of federal funds spent to hire anti-union consultants.

Workers are now being forced into two captive-audience meetings per day with union-busting consultants, who allegedly first entered the workplace posing as members of the California Labor Commission. Joseph Brock, one of the consultants on the ground, allegedly bragged to workers that he has never failed to break up a union.

Over 30 unfair labor practice complaints have been filed against Innercare management for their conduct during this campaign. According to those familiar with the campaign, ten workers have been fired since the beginning of the campaign. Moreover, as a federally-qualified health center, Innercare may receives federal dollar, which cannot be used to hire anti-union consultants.
